A nucleus colony (nuc) is a great way to get bees into your hive. All our nucs come with a mated, laying queen and 6 full depth frames containing a mixture of brood, pollen and honey plus bees. Read more about our colonies here. Frames will fit in full depth Langstroth hive boxes, Flow hives and other hives fitting standard frames. We generally use wooden frames with wax foundation sheets; please let us know if you have a different preference.
If you are looking for bees for a Kenyan top bar, Warre or other alternative hive type, please email cbrbeecollective@gmail.com.
IMPORTANT: Please select 'local delivery' in shipping options. Live bees are unavailable for pickup and must be delivered (ACT and surrounds only, subject to biosecurity restrictions). We will contact you to organise a drop-off date and time once your colony is ready and then bring the bees to your house and place the frames with bees into your hive.
Note that this is a deposit only and the remaining $190 per colony will be due on delivery
Note on varroa mite: While we regularly check for the presence of varroa mite in our apiary, we cannot 100% guarantee that it is not present and do not bear any responsibility for any detections post-delivery. We recommend that all beekeepers educate themselves about varroa treatment and management options.

Please contact us if you are unhappy with your purchase. Before inviting bees into your life, we strongly recommend completing a hands-on beekeeping course to gain practical experience handling bees.
